Has the warmer weather gotten you in the mood for a quick escape?
We’ve got just the thing for you! Back by popular demand, the “3-2-1 Getaway” package offers FREE admission to three of Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley’s most popular attractions: Hagley Museum and Library; Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library; and Mt. Cuba Center.
It’s good for two adults and up to two children ages 17 and under. That’s a $118-plus value! All you have to do to qualify is stay a minimum of two nights at a participating hotel.
That’s a pretty amazing deal, right? And all three attractions feature gorgeous gardens, trails and water features. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the arrival of spring.
The “3-2-1 Getaway” is available for stays from April 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021. In addition to the free admission, many of the hotels are offering their own special offers and reduced rates so be sure to take advantage now!
Participating hotels include: Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware (accepting reservations June 1, 2021), DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Wilmington, Embassy Suites Wilmington/Newark South, Hampton Inn and Suites Wilmington/Christiana, Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Wilmington/Newark, Homewood Suites by Hilton Downtown Wilmington, Homewood Suites by Hilton Newark/Wilmington South, HOTEL DU PONT, The Inn at Montchanin Village and Spa, Residence Inn Wilmington Downtown, Sheraton Suites Downtown Wilmington, and Springhill Suites by Marriott Newark Downtown.
Is this your first time visiting us? Here’s a little preview of the amazing museums and gardens included in the getaway. All three are former du Pont family estates:
Hagley Museum and Library is where the du Pont story began. The original gunpowder mills and workers’ quarters are located here as is the original du Pont family home and gardens. You can stroll its 235-acres and snap pics of the gorgeous Brandywine River views.
Mt. Cuba Center is home to more than 1,000 native plants, many of which are very rare. Its 630 acres of pastures, fields, ponds, native forests, and gardens offer many great spots for a quiet stroll or picnic. In July 2020, Mt. Cuba earned the title of “Best Botanical Garden” in USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards.
At Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, you can take a self-guided tour of the mansion (home to one of the most important collections of American decorative arts in the U.S.) and explore its expansive grounds and gardens on foot or on a narrated tram ride. With its many wildflowers and flowering trees and shrubs, Winterthur is one of the best places to take in the brilliant colors of spring. Kids will love walking through the mystical Enchanted Woods.
While reservations are not required to visit any of the included attractions, you should call Winterthur in advance if you would like to tour the estate house as space is limited. Go to www.winterthur.org/visit for more information.
