Is this your first time visiting us? Here’s a little preview of the amazing museums and gardens included in the getaway. All three are former du Pont family estates:

free admission to three museums and gardens

Hagley Museum and Library is where the du Pont story began. The original gunpowder mills and workers’ quarters are located here as is the original du Pont family home and gardens. You can stroll its 235-acres and snap pics of the gorgeous Brandywine River views.

Mt. Cuba Center is home to more than 1,000 native plants, many of which are very rare. Its 630 acres of pastures, fields, ponds, native forests, and  gardens offer many great spots for a quiet stroll or picnic. In July 2020, Mt. Cuba earned the title of “Best Botanical Garden” in USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards.

At Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, you can take a self-guided tour of the mansion (home to one of the most important collections of American decorative arts in the U.S.) and explore its expansive grounds and gardens on foot or on a narrated tram ride. With its many wildflowers and flowering trees and shrubs, Winterthur is one of the best places to take in the brilliant colors of spring. Kids will love walking through the mystical Enchanted Woods.

While reservations are not required to visit any of the included attractions, you should call Winterthur in advance if you would like to tour the estate house as space is limited. Go to www.winterthur.org/visit for more information.
