Churches & Places of Worship

Wilmington, Delaware and the Brandywine Valley have a rich religious history, starting with Holy Trinity Church (Old Swedes) in the 17th century, quite possibly the nation's oldest church building still used for worship as originally built. Today, the region boasts hundreds of places of worship, both new and old, including the Hindu Temple of Delaware in Hockessin and Cathedral of St. Peter, the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wilmington.
