Delicious Delaware
Enjoy fine dining and gourmet cooking demonstrations as your tour the glorious Brandywine Valley - home to breathtaking art, fascinating history, glorious mansions and first rate hospitality.
Begin at the Delaware Art Museum, home to a world renowned collection of American art and illustration as well as the largest collection of British Pre Raphaelite artwork outside of the UK. You will experience the sensational new "love and lies" themed tour, a guided tour highlighting stories of romance, treachery and deceit that lie in the museum's artworks. Visit the museum's own art studios for a hand embellished stationary workshop where you will create notes reminiscent of the Victorian era. After wards, relax and sip sparkling wine as you enjoy a delectable fondue reception with both brie cheese and mouth-watering chocolate fondue.
For the evening festivities, the elegant Hotel DuPont is the destination. A landmark four star hotel, the Hotel DuPont was designed by Pierre S. DuPont in the early 20th century. After a cocktail reception, you will be treated to a cooking demonstration and six course gourmet dinner by the hotel's very own executive chef.
Travel south to the Historic Houses of Odessa, a charming 18th century village in Odessa, Delaware. Stroll the tree lined streets and tour historic colonial buildings. Enjoy a cooking demonstration to learn how the delicious desert, Apple Charlotte, was made before modern appliances were available. Lunch will be served in one of the colonial homes.
Winterthur, the magnificent country estate of Henry Francis DuPont, will be our final destination. Tour a selection of the estate's period rooms with their unparalleled collection of American decorative arts. Experience how the duPonts lived and entertained at Winterthur in grand country-house style! Relax with afternoon High Tea afterwards in the Garden Cafe. Enjoy a selection of imported teas, pastries and deserts.
