Curtain Rises on 2011 Greater Wilmington Theatre SeasonProfessional theatre is in abundance with many venues to choose from.

Festivals Heat Up Early Fall DaysGreater Wilmington offers a choice for all interests and likes.
The Greater Wilmington Area is famous for its festivals. Here are some of the highlights during the fall season:
Delaware Saengerbund Oktoberfest
September 16 - September 18
For three days in Newark, enjoy authentic German entertainment and cuisine. The Enzian Volkstanzgruppe", a Bavarian dance group, performs in traditional costumes with the men dressed in "Lederhosen" and the women in "Dirndl". Music is provided by live bands. The food is not to be missed. Enjoy grilled Bratwurst, Weisswuurst, Frankfurters, BBG chicken, pretzels and Rollmops followed by Torten or plum cake. Newark Film Festival
Septemer 8-September 15;

The Newark Film Festival returns on September 8th to September 15th. See award-winning movies that have created a buzz at top international and national film festivals. For eight full days, more than 25 independent and documentary films premier on the big screens at Cinema Center 3 in Downtown Newark, just minutes south of the city of Wilmington. The following weekend, on October 16th to October 18th, the "Best of the Fest" are screened at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington during the WilmFilmFestival. Fringe Festival Returns to Wilmington
October 5-October 8
Fringe Festival promises to be more exciting than ever when it returns to Wilmington on September 29th thru October 3rd. This expanded, five-day celebration of unconventional and experimental art takes audiences on an exciting journey to the cutting edge of performance, visual arts and cinema. More than twenty venues throughout the city, including the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, the Baby Grand, Opera Delaware's Black Box Theatre and Theatre N, host festival events. Vendemmia da Vinci Wine Festival
Sunday, October 9;

The Vendemmia Festival is Wilmington's biggest fall party. On Sunday, October 9th, More than 2,500 wine aficionados are expected to gather in Tubman Garrett Park on the Wilmington Riverfront to celebrate the Harvest of the Grapes. From 2:00PM to 6:30PM, sample the finest wines from every region in Italy and enjoy delicacies prepared by the area's best restaurants and bakeries. The festivities include live musical entertainment, homemade wine and gravy contests and a chance to win a trip for two to Italy. Area hotels like the Hilton Wilmington/Christiana in nearby Newark, Delaware offer special weekend
packages. Advance tickets for the Vendemmia Festival are $45.00 and can be
purchased on line at www.societadavinci.com.
Chrysanthemum Festival
October 29-November 20
Chrysanthemums take center stage at Longwood Gardens from November 1st through November 21st. During this festival, more than 200,000 chrysanthemums are arranged in amazing configurations inside the four-acre indoor Conservatory. Cascades of chrysanthemums drape the walls while spiral chrysanthemum forms climb skyward towards a towering, three-tier chandelier constructed of vibrant yellow chrysanthemums hanging from the Conservatory ceiling. Outside, blooming chrysanthemums, gorgeous gourds and giant pumpkins decorate the grounds. For more information, go to www.longwoodgardens.org.
