The Blues are Back in Town
Wilmington Riverfront Blues Festival in Tune for August Concerts
The Riverfront Blues Festival is a 3 day, outdoor music festival held on Wilmington's Riverfront at Tubman-Garrett Park. This year's festival is scheduled, rain or shine, for August 5 - 7, 2011. The three-day event includes local, national and international artist on two stages. The festival begins Friday evening with gates opening at 4:30 pm. Friday acts include Joanne Shaw Taylor, Smokin Joe Kubek with Bnois King, and the James Cotton Band.
Saturday gates open at 11:00 am with main stage performances that include Travis Haddix, E.C. Scott, Vasti Jackson, and the Chicago Blues Reunion featuring Barry Goldberg, Nick Gravenites, Corky Siegel, Sam Lay, Rick Reed, and Gary Mallaber. Sunday's main stage performances start at 12:30 pm and include Jumpin Johnny Sansone, Tab Benoit, and The Lowrider Band featuring B.B. Dickerson, Harold Brown, Howard Scott, and Lee Oskar.

Marshall Steam Museum puts Historic Autos on Display
Join the Marshall Steam Museum at Auburn Heights Preserve for Old-Time Autos, Sunday August 14 from noon to 4:00 pm. This fun-filled day celebrates local history and life at the dawn of the automotive age. Step back in time and see historic cars not ordinarily on display at Auburn Heights. Marvel at automobiles from the post-Stanley era through World War II and see photos and mementos from early Steam Car Tours. Enjoy rides in the antique autos and on the Auburn Valley Railroad, free popcorn, entry to the museum with its renowned collection of Stanley Steamers, and optional mansion tours.Dollar Dino Days
Enjoy $1 Admission Every Tuesday During the Month of August
Every Tuesday in August, the Delaware Museum of Natural History is partnering with Artisans' Bank to lower admission prices to just $1 per person during August Dollar Tuesdays. Visitors are invited to explore the wonders of the natural world at the Museum for just $1 on August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2011 courtesy of Artisans' Bank.Admission includes entry to the special exhibit, Turtle Travels, where families can experience the world from a turtle's perspective. Live turtles are on view in special tanks and visitors can learn more about the obstacles these creatures face in their daily lives. Hands-on activities include a life-sized board game, radio tracking equipment, a "Swiss Army turtle," and more.
Elsewhere in the Museum, galleries showcase Delaware's only dinosaurs on permanent display, a life-sized model of a giant squid, a coral reef walkover, an African watering hole, and exotic mollusk and bird collections. The Larry Scott Nature Trail and Butterfly Garden reach their peak this time of year, and visitors can cool off inside to view a nature film in the DuPont Auditorium.The Visitors Center operates Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST.
