Calendar of Events
Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley offer year-round events and entertainment for families, friends and couples alike. Each changing season brings its own unique brand of fun events and excitement.
Winterthur's annual Point-to-Point Steeplechase Race event ushers in the unofficial start to spring for the Greater Wilmington area. Or simply enjoy the lush color and beautiful landscapes found in our rolling hills and woodland areas. The summer season in Greater Wilmington is celebrated with many ethnic events and music festivals, including the free Clifford Brown Jazz Festival. Other events include outdoor concerts, and fun-filled evenings under the stars at our local wineries and breweries, fireworks displays, and fountain shows.
In the fall, outdoor adventure is abundant. Mother Nature paints the landscapes of Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley with sensational colors making it the ideal backdrop for bird watching, antiquing, the Hagley Car Show, or a visit to Fort Delaware. And, when winter takes center stage, Greater Wilmington offers plenty of indoor events and activities. Join in on the theatre and concert season with everything from Broadway productions and ballet to opera and stand-up comedians. Plus, the holiday season is ablaze with spirit from November to January as the area celebrates in many unique ways. Magnificent museums and mansions are dressed for the holidays, private homes in quaint, colonial towns open their doors to the public, indoor gardens are singing with color and the outdoor lighting displays are fabulous.
There's always something happening in Wilmington, and remember, it's all tax-free in Delaware.
