The Riverfront
The Wilmington Riverfront can be likened to the phoenix that rose from its ashes. Buildings that once served as warehouses, mills or factories, fallen into disrepair for decades, and have now been reurrected to house a European-style marketplace, a theatre, an art museum, professional baseball, restaurants, private residences and major corporations such as AAA Mid-Atlantic, Barclays Bank and ING Direct. Wrap around all this a senic 1.3 mile walking path and you have a budding area ready to bloom.
Delaware Children's Museum
The Delaware Children's Museum is Delaware's first and only kid-centric museum, teaching math, science and technology through hands-on exhibits. The Museum features 37,000 square feet of interactive fun, with age appropriate experiences for tots to tweens.
Riverfront Market
A refreshing European-style marketplace in an historic building on Wilmington's Riverfront featuring casual café eating. Merchants sell fresh produce, meats, seafood, baked goods, coffee, pasta, pizza, sushi, Thai foods, gourmet treats and more. Eat-in or take-out. Catering menus are available for groups.
Wilmington Blue Rocks Baseball
America's pastime - baseball - lives at Wilmington's Riverfront. Home of the Wilmington Blue Rocks, a Class-Aaffiliate of the Kansas City Royals, play their homes games at Riverfront Wilmington's Frawley Stadium.
Delaware Theatre Company
Now in its 31st season and located on Wilmington's Riverfront, Delaware's premier professional theatre produces a diverse season of plays, including musicals, new works, and the classics, along with an array of nationally recognized education and outreach programs.
Kalmar Nyckel Foundation
The Kalmar Nyckel is a seaworthy re-creation of the ship that brought the Swedes to Delaware in 1638. It is open for dockside tours, public day sails, private dockside events and sailing charters.
DuPont Environmental
Education Center
The new DuPont Environmental Education Center at the RussellW. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge is a four-story education center, featuringinteractive exhibits, multi-media presentations, a marsh wet lab, and amulti-purpose space with sweeping views of the Christina river, marsh and city.Visitors can venture into the refuge on a quarter-mile boardwalk that surroundsa tidal pond, where education stations extend into the water for hands-onactivities.
