 | | | | | Greetings from the Executive Director Wow! I can't believe it is the end of September! The team at the GWCVB has been very busy marketing and selling the area. Following are just some highlights I would like to share (a full report can be downloaded here): In June, we had a meeting with the New Castle County General Managers based on recent survey results regarding the need for Friday and Saturday hotel nights. Scott Ciancio, Director of Marketing quickly went into action and we worked with participating hotels to develop the Summer Weekend Spectacular promotional package. VisitWilmingtonDE.com continues to perform well, our total visits have increased 114% over July 2010. and our unique visitors increased 126% for same period. From the Communications department, Director Lyn Lewis worked closely with a Preservation Magazine writer and photographer to secure an incredible seven page article. Here is a link to a PDF of the full article . Sara Garnett, Director of Sales, hit the ground running. She participated on the State of Delaware sales mission to Washington, DC. She even went back a month later with Kent County Tourism and made additional calls. Sara also recently attended the Connect Marketplace in Chicago. Director of Membership, Linda McKay worked on assessing the New Castle County agritourism assets for the Delaware Harvest Trail, and participated in its launch on Friday September 23 at Coleman's Tree Farm in Middletown. We are happy to announce and invite you to welcome Andrew (Drew) Osberg, Marketing and Social Media Specialist to the GWCVB team. He is a Delaware native and graduated from Suffolk University in Boston with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication. Drew interned during summer breaks at The Archer Group and WDEL, and most recently worked with Medstaff Healthcare Solutions. Click here to download a full3rd Quarter report. Of the 150,000 copies, 90% are distributed outside of Delaware. And, the guide is also available as a digital version at VisitWilmingtonDE.com. We will be reformatting the Annual Visitor Guide to become an even better selling piece to entice visitors to come "Shop. Stay. Play." The new format will include all members; however, we are changing the listing descriptions in some sections. Here is what will be different: Hotels, Restaurants, Shopping and Services will all have their name, address, phone, website and the map locator. This is one the trends we see with Visitor Guides and we voted for this scenario rather than eliminating listings all together. Our goal is to include additional content, articles and reasons for to visit and to encourage visitors to visit our website for full details. Should you have any questions or comments regarding the Visitor Guide changes, please feel free to contact Sarah Willoughby directly on 302-295-2216 or swilloughby@visitwilmingtonde.com . | | | On-site Staff Education and New Member Tools The GWCVB wants to help connect your back office and front line staff.
