A Message from the Executive Director
Spring is here! This is one of my favorite times of the year as we see the new growth breaking the surface. In the New Castle County tourism market, we are seeing the final touches on two all-new developments: opening April 1 - The Queen, World Café Live on Market Street and on April 8 - Nordstrom's opens at the Christiana Mall.
Under the leadership of Secretary of State Jeff Bullock watch for more details on the arts marketing campaign(Art-Is-In, Live-Is-In, Dining-Is-In, Jazz-Is-In and Sports-Are-In). For now, check out "im-in-now.com" - it is good to be "in"!
What is going on at the GWCVB? Scott Ciancio joined the GWCVB on February 7 as our
new Web Content Manager. Scott is responsible for ensuring our website has top quality content as well as maintaining the site via our web-based content management system. He is available to assist members with functions with CRM - such as adding coupons, special offers, hot rates and dates, and hotel getaway packages.
New to the GWCVB Board of Directors - Gordon DelGiorno, Film Brothers .
Watch for new developments on the GWCVB website - we are always enhancing the site and the way visitors find you. We have branded our website with our e-mail addresses - swilloughby@visitwilmingtonde.com instead of the swilloughby@wilmcvb.org. Both still work - but please update your database.

Communications Department Update
Maryland-based travel writers, Barbara and Ken Beem, visited Wilmington on December 4th and toured Nemours Mansion & Gardens in preparation for an article they were writing which appeared in the February issue of New England Antique Journal . They were enthusiastic about the experience and their enthusiasm proved contagious. Susan Stanton, President of The Ways & Means Committee of Historical Old Salem, was so impressed with what the Beem's had to say that she chartered a motor coach to bring 53 of the committee's members to Delaware for a day trip on Friday, May 13th. The group will tour Nemours Mansion & Gardens, dine at Krazy Kat's at the Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa and then head to the Christiana Mall for a tax-free shopping spree.
We continue to work with publications to get coverage for the area. In addition to the New England Antique Journal, articles have appeared in recent issues of Southern Living Magazine, The National Culinary Review, Mason-Dixon Arrive, Packaged Travel Insider, Smart Meetings, Mid-Atlantic Events Magazine and Small Market Meetings. Look for more coverage in Woman's World, Family Circle Magazine and Rejuvenate.
We Need Your Images and Events Information!
Help us promote you! We want to be prepared to respond to press requests and generate more coverage of the area. We want to publicize your activities to travel writers, meeting planners, group tour operators, potential visitors and area residents. Go here to submit your upcoming events to our event calendar and email photos to LynLewis@VisitWilmingtonDE.com.
