Lorelei and Mojo on Main are hosting a monthly Bellydance performance Hafla. Drum and Dance Haflas will feature a headlining dancer who is an area pro. There will also be 5-6 guest dancers, some of whom are professional restaurant dancers and some of whom are not, but all have experience in Bellydance. Both traditional Middle Eastern styles as well as Tribal, Tribal Fusion, and Cabaret Fusion will be performed. There will also be time for open dance and drum, so bring your hip scarves, drums and dancing feet. Performances by other dance forms and musicians are also welcome. The image of the eagle has been an important icon in the history of the du Pont family. The du Pont family came to America on the ship,American Eagle; the DuPont Company's first product was Eagle Gun Powder; decorative arts collected by Mrs. Louise du Pont Crowninshield were adorned with eagles, a common symbolic element in Federal-style furnishings. This exhibit is on display in the du Pont family ancestral home, Eleutherian Mills, and is included in regular admission and tour. Free for members. Use Hagley’s main entrance off Route 141 in Wilmington, Delaware.

Over the past 100 years, the Delaware Art Museum has proudly featured the work of the most accomplished artists in our region. Wilmington-based painter, Mary Page Evans, works directly from nature, seeking to capture a specific landscape, figure, tree or sky. She is engaged by particularity, making an effort to establish the locale, the time of day, and the quality of light. Not surprisingly, her influences include the French impressionists and post-impressionists, as well as the abstract expressionist, Joan Mitchell. Evans has worked at Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny and names Cézanne as an inspiration. The painter, Gene Davis, described her paintings as “hymns of unadulterated joy,” and this exhibition promises to be a gorgeous celebration of nature and the human form, as well as a retrospective covering more than 40 years of the painter’s distinguished career.

Founded in 2002, Point Blank started out performing at local social functions, private parties, community and high school events, weddings and corporate functions. In 2003 the eight-piece ensemble released their debut album "Pulling Off the Covers" and quickly found themselves headlining at Philadelphia landmarks such as Zanzibar Blue and Warm Daddy's. The group began to pack venues wherever they played. Wanting to expand their musical horizons and display their tremendous talent, Point Blank soon appeared at the Berks County Jazz Festival with greats like Hiroshima, Najee and Doc Powell. 2008 found them on stage at the DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival opening for the legendary George Duke, as well as opening for jazz fusion great Jeff Lorber at The Philadelphia 'Welcome America' festival. Later in 2008 Point Blank released another recording called "In the Raw," a cult favorite and endearing tribute to improvisational jazz. Now totally seasoned and ready to do something special for their adoring fans, Point Blank has released their first CD containing entirely original music; "A Point Of View" is an eclectic mix of grooves, rhythms and ballads that reflect a soulful brotherhood with evolving spiritual conscience.

Some of the groups participating include: Delaware Humane, SPCA, Angels Among Us, House of Hope and South Jersey Rescue. We also have 10-12 local vendors doing demonstrations and selling pet and non-pet items. The event is free to the public and complementary snacks are provided. The Dog play yards are open to dogs that regularly attend Camp Bow Wow so the owners can enjoy the fun! We also have drawings and raffles to benefit local shelters and Bow Wow Buddies Foundation. The sounds of Greece return to Wilmington this June as Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church celebrates its annual Greek Festival, Tuesday June 5 – Saturday June 9, 2012 from 11AM-11PM at 8th and Broom Streets. Festival guests will enjoy homemade Greek food and desserts, ethnic music and dance performances by the Award Winning Terpsechorian Dance Troupe. Admission is free. Enjoy popular Greek foods like gyro and souvlaki under a warm summer sky. Homemade traditional comfort foods like mousaka, pastichio, dolmades and spanakopita are served in the Hellenic Community Center from 11AM to 9:30PM everyday. If you have a sweet tooth, go right for dessert and grab a bowl of the ever popular loukoumades. Philadelphia’a Atlantis Orchestra will be performing live Greek music nightly. The Terpsechorian Troupe will perform traditional dances in traditional costumes at 7:30PM and 8:30PM nightly. We Are The Tide, the sophomore album from Portland-based band Blind Pilot, follows the band's grassroots debut, 3 Rounds and a Sound, which earned them critical attention on NPR, who included them in their "Best Music of 2008" roundup, describing them as "a roots-pop duo which bathes its terrific songs in ingratiating harmonies and understated instrumentation. Throughout her varied art-making practice, Nina Katchadourian has explored systems, structures, codes, language and communication. Sorted Books is an ongoing project, begun in 1993, in which the artist surveys a collection of books, selecting and grouping particular titles so that they can be read in sequence. The clusters are photographed and the resulting images are displayed in the gallery as a way to shed light on the unique nature of any private or public book collection. Founded in December 1911, the Museum’s Helen Farr Sloan Library & Archives now boasts over 30,000 volumes of books, catalogues and periodicals, in addition to special collections. Working primarily with the Library’s M. G. Echoing some of the great folk, pop and rock unions of the 60's and 70's as well as the newest super-groups and dream bands spanning the globe these days, US Rails emerges as the underdog collective of songwriters, singers and musicians who deliver a night of cool songs and great harmony. US Rails is five distinctive personalities who met originally while living in and around Philadelphia, PA but have since scattered all over the map to France, Germany and Austin, TX. Most of the members of US Rails were originally part of the Philadelphia group 4 Way Street (Sanctuary Records). Now, reinvented and rejuvenated, they are carrying on the tradition.

Participate in one or all of these workshops designed for children ages 3 to 10 accompanied by an adult. Each program includes a thematic guided tour followed by a hands-on art project. Two sessions will be held each day: Session A: 10AM to 11:30AM and Session B: 11AM to 12:30PM. Pre-registration is required. This trio "artfully treads the line between alt-kids and just plain alternative" [Nick Jr. Family Magazine] and this year their song "It Only Takes One Night to Make a Balloon Your Friend" topped the charts on XM/Sirius children's radio. The band delivers a high-energy show that aims to get children and their parents dancing, thinking and laughing. Lunch Money began in 2003 when singer/guitarist Molly Ledford (The Verna Cannon - Cargo/Headhunter) decided to try her hand at bringing the live music experience to young audiences. She enlisted fellow Verna Cannon bandmate Jay Barry (drums) and multi-instrumentalist J.P. Stephens (bass, mandolin, harmonica) to form Lunch Money, the name chosen to honor that first taste of childhood independence and power. The Heart Walk is the premier fundraising and celebration event for the My Heart, My Life Campaign. My Heart, My life is a behavioral change platform designed to improve the health of all Americans and reduce cardiovascular death and disease by 20% by the year 2020. Sedentary lifestyle is one of the leading risk factors for heart disease. The Heart Walk emphasizes the importance of regular exercise in maintaining a healthy heart. The Heart Walk includes a critical fundraising campaign to support research and programs to fight the No. 1 and No. 4 causes of death – heart disease and stroke. This 5K walking event takes place each fall at the Wilmington Riverfront. There are fun, educational and family-friendly activities and entertainment throughout the morning. In 2011, more than 1,500 New Castle County walkers from corporate and community teams attended the event and raised over $210,000 for cardiovascular disease and stroke research and educational programs.

Together for almost 15 years, The Whirled Peas Band performs classic American roots music. They delve into folk, blues and bluegrass, entertaining audiences in the tri-state area. Band co-founder Todd Breck has been involved in Wilmington's music scene for most of his life. He opened Wilmington's first coffee house, The Attic, in 1962 and hosted artists such as Peter Tork, Pat Sky and Buffy Ste. Marie. By chance, John Frink, who joined The Whirled Peas in the 90's, also performed there in the early 60's.
