Mission Statement for the GWCVB
The Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization founded in 1978, chartered by the Governor of Delaware, the New Castle County Executive and the Mayor of Wilmington. Its mission is to serve as the community's customer-focused destination marketing organization, generating economic growth through leisure travel and meetings development by aggressively marketing attractions, facilities, amenities and services for visitors.
As a result, the GWCVB seeks to produce higher volumes of visitors, visitor spending, and tax revenues, to generate and sustain jobs and to enhance the quality of life for our residents.
The GWCVB is governed by a board of 27 members - seven appointed by the Governor of Delaware, seven by the New Castle County Executive and seven by the Mayor of the City of Wilmington. These 21 elect six. The Director of Delaware Tourism and the Executive Director are ex officio members of the Board.
The GWCVB operates the Downtown Visitors Center located at:
Wilmington, DE 19801
Hours of operation - Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (excluding holidays).
