Hi, I'm Sarah Willoughby, the Executive Director for the GWCVB. As I start writing my first-ever blog, I am extremely curious to know what YOU would like to hear about from me; I encourage you to submit your comments here and on our various social media sites. I look forward to hearing from you. But for now, I will simply introduce myself and tell you why I love the Greater Wilmington area.
Am I from Delaware? No, I am originally from Mississippi but moved to Delaware in 1993 and love it! I have been promoting tourism in the area for over 16 years. I spent ten years marketing the beautiful Winterthur Museum and Country Estate prior to joining the GWCVB. New Castle County (aka Northern Delaware) offers world-class gardens, grand mansions, unique museums, quaint towns, a national Scenic Byway, tax-free shopping, dining and entertainment. Get ready - Nordstrom's will be opening April 8, 2011 at the Christiana Mall (I'll be first in line)
Of course, if you're more concerned with adventure and the outdoors, we've got plenty of that too. Enjoy championship golf courses, kayaking, canoeing or tubing on the Brandywine, excellent biking and hiking trails, as well as outstanding birding opportunities. There truly is something for everybody here! You can unwind at one the area's charming, family-owned and operated wineries or breweries or test lady luck at the casinos featuring table games, slots and horse racing! Wow - we haven't even touched on any of our dining opportunities or all of the cool events that are constantly happening. We'll save that for another blog.
Many who are reading this already know all these wonderful details about Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley, but the purpose of this blog is to reach those who have never experienced our extraordinary section of the I-95 corridor. So please share this blog with friends, family and co-workers and comment on why you love to spend time in Greater Wilmington and the Brandywine Valley.
Ok, one blog down, many more to come!
