Please be advised that starting after 11:00 pm on June 13, 2008 through 5:00 am June 18, 2008, Amtrak Regional and Acela Express service will be cancelled between New Haven, CT and Boston, MA as Amtrak Engineering replaces the movable span on the century old Thames River Bridge. Additionally, some Regional train service will be suspended between New York and New Haven resulting in schedule adjustments. These adjustments in schedule will be made available as soon as they are confirmed. The projected maintenance schedule is as follows: • Tuesday, May 27, 2008 – Preparatory work for counterweight removal will create a single track operation through the work area for approximately two miles and may result in minor delays between Providence and New Haven. • Between Saturday, June 14, 2008 and Tuesday, June 17, 2008 -- the track outage will affect 120 trains that operate between Boston and New Haven: 22 on Saturday, 26 on Sunday and 36 on Monday and 36 on Tuesday. • Passengers traveling between Providence and New Haven may continue to experience minor delays through June 21, 2008. During the outage, engineering crews will perform an around-the-clock maintenance blitz between Boston and New Haven that will include tie replacement, surfacing at interlockings, catenary maintenance, track and platform work. The only other railroad affected by the bridge outage is P & W Freight. Shoreline East and MBTA service will not be affected. Please note that connecting and/or alternate transportation between New Haven and Boston will not be provided by Amtrak during the bridge outage. We will keep you apprised of any updates, but please contact Amtrak for up-to-date schedule and service information. We apologize for any inconvenience this service project may cause.
